Detmold Group coronavirus response

March 27, 2020

As communities around the world are responding to the coronavirus crisis, there are significant impacts which are changing the way we go about our daily lives.

While people adjust to new social distancing measures, there continues to be pressure placed on our supermarkets, on key supplies such as toilet paper, and on businesses transitioning to food delivery or takeaway.

While people get used to social distancing and learn what life in isolation means, essential services, such as supermarkets, continue to operate.

We are working at full capacity to support our foodservice industry during this difficult time.

Continuing to supply our fast-moving consumer good and industrial markets with paper and cardboard packaging, we are responding to demand for product availability for our supermarkets.

Using our global network to ensure supply, our customers are producing vital products like flour, sugar, and essential basic consumer goods.

The retail industry is facing unprecedented times and we are working with our customers to understand how their business model is changing and how we can support these changes.

Many of our customers are switching to primarily E-Commerce platforms and limiting the interaction they have with fellow staff and customers, to promote safety and social distancing measures.

Toilet paper continues to be a product flying off the shelves.

We have adjusted our capability to assist in wrapping toilet paper to support this requirement and increasing demand.

As many businesses change the way they interact with their usual customer base, the foodservice industry is moving to solely delivery and takeaway options.

For some foodservice providers, this is the first time they’ve operated via delivery or takeaway.

In supporting a transition and rapid changes for this industry, we are sharing tips on how to package food safely for delivery and takeaway.

Alongside helping businesses adapt by switching to packaging designed for delivery, we are supporting customers who have experienced supply interruptions from other suppliers and have subsidised freight in some markets.

Like all businesses, we are focused on looking after our communities and staying safe during these difficult times.
